About me and my practice
My therapeutic practice can offer:
• Support with understanding and moving away from unhelpful thinking or behaviour patterns
• Support with working through certain life events or changes
• A safe environment to talk through and heal from previous or traumatic experiences
• A space to better understand yourself and reconnect with your true self
• Support with managing worry, anxiety or disconnect around your past, present or future
My key themes of support include anxiety, depression, eating disorders and disordered eating, low self esteem, relationships and bereavement.
Person-centred therapy
As an integrative therapist I will draw on a number of techniques in practice, however, a person-centred approach often sits at the heart of my sessions. This approach aims to support you in understanding and exploring your own feelings, beliefs and behaviours within a non-judgemental environment, and within your own time.
Psychodynamic therapy
I draw from psychodyamic theory in instances where a client is keen to understand how their past experiences, and unconcious mind, may be having an influence on their present day thoughts, feelings and emotions. This can be particularly helpful for addressing the root causes of any difficulties we face and creating a long-lasting change to our present day life.
Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT)
CBT is really valuable in helping us to understand how our thoughts, beliefs and attitudes affect our present day, and future, feelings and actions. I use CBT to support clients in identifying unhelpful thought and behaviour patterns, and help them to develop key strategies to manage these.
I can support you with:
Anxiety
Anxiety is an emotion characterised by fear, worry and tension. It is an emotion we all experience from time to time. Anxiety can become a mental health condition when the emotion is intense and prolonged, impacting your ability to live your life in the way you want to. Through therapy, we can work together to address the causes of your anxiety and to develop strategies to help you manage it.
Low mood & depression
Depression is a mental health condition resulting in persistent feelings of low mood and loss of interest and enjoyment in things. I can offer a safe and non-judgmental space to explore your feelings and thoughts. Together, we’ll work towards finding ways to lift the fog of depression and help you rediscover your sense of self.
Eating disorders & disordered eating
Eating disorders are complex mental health conditions. Difficulties with food and body image can often develop as a means of coping with the stresses and anxieties of life. We can work together to help you develop an improved relationship with food and your body. Through psychotherapy, we’ll explore the emotional roots of your eating disorder and work towards developing more self-compassionate strategies for managing stress and anxiety.
Grief & loss
Feelings of grief result from the loss of someone or something important to us. Grief can impact everyone differently, and can be a really difficult emotional experience. I aim to offer a safe and supportive space to process your grief. Together we can address and work through your emotions to find ways to cope with your loss.
Low self-esteem
Living with low self-esteem and self-worth can leave you feeling like you’re not good enough. It can often lead to self-critical thoughts and constant feelings of self-doubt. We can work together in therapy, to address the causes of your low self-esteem, to identify negative thought patterns and work towards replacing them with positive, self-compassionate beliefs.
Relationships
Our relationships with ourself and with others are a huge part of our lives. When our relationships feel difficult, they can become a source of stress and anxiety. Therapy can support you in understanding your own thought and behaviour patterns within relationships and help you develop communication strategies to strengthen your relationships.
